Original quality oil painting on canvas. A view of a village with white-washed houses. Great lighting and warmth.
ARTIST: Signed "Th. B. D.". Theodore Bernard Dahl (1886-1971) is a well-listed listed artist. He was the son of a bricklayer and an autodidact painter. He received a number of scholarships due to his talent and was a Charlottenborg painter. He was rewarded with the Eckersberg prize (a prize from the Academy of Fine Arts ) for one of his harvest landscapes and for a painting of the Doom. Th. Dahl held a number of one-man exhibitions. Although he traveled in Europe and made study travels to Berlin , Dresden and Munich , it was the Danish landscape he held dearest. Th. Dahl was a painter who carried on J. Th. Lundbye's tradition of national landscapes.
DATING: irst part of the 20th Century.
CONDITION: Very good. No missing paint, holes or tears. Please see the photos.
The frame is in a very good condition with minor signs of age. Ready to hang.
SIZE: 26" by 18 1/2" (66 cm by 47 cm) without the frame. 29 1/2" by 22" (75 cm by 56 cm) with the frame.
