VINTAGE ORIGINAL OFFICIAL RARE! OFFICIAL 5/16/55 ROCKY MARCIANO – DON COCKELL
HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING PROGRAM
 THE ROCK WINS IN 9!!

Very rare, terrific, historic and desirable guaranteed ORIGINAL and OFFICIAL BOXING PROGRAM....May 21, 1955 at KEZAR STADIUM, San Francisco, California. These programs seldom appear. The fight matched World Heavyweight Champ Rocky Marciano against ranking British Challenger Don Cockell. In his fifth title defense, Marciano was outweighed by 16 pounds. Early in the fight, the most serious damage to Cockell was a forehead cut opened up in round four. Cockell was only able to land a few meaningful shots to Marciano. In round 9, Rocky landed two lefts and another right. Cockell was down on his haunches then was up at eight. A hard right and left sent the challenger weaving around the ring. Cockell was down again for a seven count.

Referee Frankie Brown then stops the fight. Marciano wins by technical knockout. The time was 54 seconds of the 9th. Don was down twice in the round, for an eight count and a count of seven. The second time he just slipped on the canvas from the accumulation of punches. A typical ending for The Rock, who finished with a record 88% knockout rate (vs. Joe Louis at 75% and Ali at 61%)!

This is the FIRST Marciano Photo Cover boxing program we have ever acquired!
