Of all the major Holiday Classics, it is vintage paper from the 1942 “Holiday Inn” that barely survived extinction.   Original movie posters and lobby cards have eluded collectors for decades as they seem to surface only ever several years.   Original movie paper for “White Christmas’ probably has about 5-10 times the population of “Holiday Inn”.   In our 40 years collecting we have only been able to find Two original lobby cards and a single one sheet.

Even if you search eBay, you won’t find a single Original lobby card, only reproductions.   So, this week we are ecstatic to have discovered Six of the ORIGINAL 1942 “White Christmas” lobby cards.

NOTE: We acquired Eight Original “Holiday Inn” lobby cards.   See the others below under “Other Treasures you Might Love”

Holiday Inn (Paramount, 1942). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
This wonderful film is highly regarded as one of Hollywood's greatest musicals. Bing Crosby plays a well-known singer who decides to open a countryside inn after his singing partner (Virginia Dale) deserts him to become Fred Astaire's dancing partner. Fortunately, he discovers Marjorie Reynolds at his inn, but she is spirited away by Astaire when Dale leaves him to get married. Ultimately, Crosby and Astaire join forces and end their rivalry. Featuring the music of Irving Berlin, the film debuts the classic song "White Christmas." Other songs include "Easter Parade," "Be Careful, It's My Heart," and "Abraham."
Starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds, Virginia Dale, Walter Abel, Louise Beavers, and Irving Bacon. Directed by Mark Sandrich. Unrestored lobby card that display signs of use. May include light edge wear, chips, tears, pinholes, faint creases, and/or stains and smudges.
